Where to stay near The Grain Store: a guest guide to Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth

One of the most common questions couples ask when planning a wedding at The Grain Store is this: where will everyone stay?

It is a good question. The venue sits in beautiful countryside near the South Devon coast, which is one of the reasons couples love it - but it is also an area where guests need a little guidance to find the right accommodation.

This is a practical guide to the options closest to the venue, so you can share it with your guests and stop fielding the same question a dozen times.

First: who is already on site

The farmhouse at The Grain Store sleeps 14 across seven bedrooms. This is typically used by the couple and their closest family and friends, which means the people most important to you are already there when the weekend begins.

You can explore the farmhouse accommodation at The Grain Store.

For everyone else, the options below are the closest and most practical.

1) Beesands and Beeson

There is a great pub called
The Cricket Inn down at Beesands which has lovely rooms with stunning views and there are several holiday lets in Beeson village, a 5 minute drive from The Grain Store.

2) Kingsbridge

From
Kingsbridge, guests can reach the venue in around 10 minutes by car. It is also a lovely town in its own right - with a good selection of pubs and restaurants that work well for a pre-wedding dinner on Friday evening.
If you are directing guests to one place, Kingsbridge is often the easiest answer.

Explore the Kingsbridge location near the venue.

3) Salcombe - the coastal upgrade

Salcombe is around 15 minutes from the venue and one of the most beautiful small towns in Devon. It sits on a tidal estuary with stunning water views, excellent restaurants, and a strong selection of holiday lets and small hotels.
It tends to appeal to guests who want to make the weekend feel like a proper trip - arriving a day early, exploring the estuary by boat, and feeling like the journey itself was worth it.

Accommodation in Salcombe books up well in advance, particularly in summer. If guests are planning to stay there, early booking is genuinely important.

Explore the Salcombe area near the venue.

4) Dartmouth - for guests coming from further afield

Dartmouth
is around 30 minutes from the venue and a natural choice for guests travelling longer distances who want somewhere with more of a town feel. It has hotels, restaurants, and good transport links, including ferries across the river that many guests enjoy as part of the trip.

The town itself has a lot of character and tends to be a popular choice for guests who want to combine the wedding with a short break in South Devon.

5) Beesands and Torcross - for guests who want to be closest

The tiny coastal village of Beesands is literally next door to the beach ceremony location and a short drive from the main venue. There are a small number of holiday lets in Beesands and nearby Torcross, and guests who stay here will find themselves within walking distance of the coast.

These spots book extremely fast. If you have guests who want the most immersive experience - and who are happy to be in a quiet, rural setting - point them here first.

6) A note on taxis and transport

South Devon is beautiful and rural, which means guests should plan in advance if they are not driving. There are reliable local taxi firms operating in and around Kingsbridge, and many couples choose to arrange a minibus for evening guests who are staying in town.

A simple note in your wedding information pack with a couple of taxi numbers goes a long way.

Sharing this with your guests

The easiest approach is to include a brief accommodation note in your invitations or on your wedding website - something that names two or three options with links, and makes clear that the farmhouse is for immediate family only.

Most guests just need a starting point. This is it.
